BS&J was retained to assist with the evaluation of the WWTP and recommend short term improvements. Components evaluated included: wet well pump station, aeration basins, clarifier, filtration, UV building, and electrical/stand by power.

The existing hydraulic model originally prepared by BS&J was updated for 2020 demands and operation. Several feasibility scenarios were evaluated related to interconnection supply and developed a preliminary control strategy.

Evaluated existing operation and designed improvements to allow this ground storage tank to be taken offline for inspection and repair while maintaining service. On-site inspections discovered new functionality at the well house supplying the tank, enhancing operational capabilities.

BS&J assisted with the permitting of a temporary greensand filtration pilot trailer to be used to remove iron and manganese from the groundwater. Permitting was approved by the NYSDOH for the pilot to produce potable water to the distribution system.

BS&J was asked to assist with design, bid, and construction services to repair leaking joints in two potable water clearwell reinforced concrete structures at the Putnam WTP facility. Construction was competed for the addition of ultraviolet (UV) light and cartridge filter treatment for one of the wells in the RVWF determined to be Groundwater Under the Direct Influence of Surface Water (GWUDISW). Buck, Seifert & Jost, Inc. designed and obtained permits to construct the West Forest Avenue Bridge Water Main Replacement. The existing steel water main is attached to the underside of the bridge over the stream crossing and requires replacement. Construction is expected to begin in September 2020. BS&J conducted the formal dam inspections for two dams, and regular dam inspections at two dams in the Fall 2019. The inspections were attended by BS&J, SWNJ, and representatives of the NJDEP. Construction was completed on a new 10 million gallon per day (mgd) firm capacity pump station adjacent the existing Northeast Tank. The design and construction included provisions for future chemical feed systems. BS&J completed the design and provided engineering services during construction, completed in November 2019 by J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc.
