Buck, Seifert & Jost, Inc. is assisting UWNJ with the design for the addition of a ninth finished water pump (FWP 9) at the Haworth Water Treatment Plant. The new pump location is in an existing future/ spare position in the finished water pumping station completed in 1964 where there are four existing horizontal centrifugal pumping units. The FWP 9 will be a nominal 25 million gallon per day (MGD), 1,600 horsepower vertical turbine pump and will be connected to an existing Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). A second finished water pumping station completed in 1988 with four 40 MGD vertical turbine pumping units works together with the 1964 station to provide drinking water to a population of approximately 800,000 in Bergen and Hudson Counties, New Jersey.
