Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority – 54 inch PCECP Sewer Repair Below Light Rail (November 2014)

Posted on: November 1, 2014

J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. (JFC) mobilized to provide emergency response to repair this sewer force main leak in a 54 inch diameter prestressed concrete embedded cylinder pipe (PCECP) under New Jersey Transit’s Hudson Bergen Light Rail. Buck, Seifert & Jost, Inc. provided design and engineering support directly to JFC over a 3 day period for a temporary repair clamp to be fabricated and installed on the 54 inch PCECP to allow it to be placed back in service until the permanent repair pieces and full excavation could be completed. Part of the permanent repair in the following days included the design by BS&J to restore reinforced concrete slabs over the pipe that were cut and removed to gain access to the pipe.
