United Water New Jersey – District Metering in Pressure District 40 (February 2015)

Posted on: February 1, 2015

Thirteen new flowmeters will be installed on transmission and distribution mains ranging in size from 6 to 36 inches in diameter to measure flow within Pressure District (PD) 40 serving the municipalities of North Bergen and West New York in Hudson County, NJ. Buck, Seifert & Jost, Inc. is providing design services for the construction of the flowmeters which includes three new electrical services, valves, and communication with UWNJ’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for real-time monitoring. In-line direct bury battery powered meters will be used for smaller mains and insertion meters will be used to cost effectively meter larger diameter transmission mains. This information in conjunction with an on-going initiative to install water meters that are read via radio on a frequent basis and continuously when required, will provide essential data to UWNJ about water use in PD 40.
